I started working in Sanikiluaq in 2002 studying eiders diving under the sea ice in winter and have been learning from Inuit hunters ever since. SIKU and Arctic Eider Society are the result of the vision of Inuit leaders including Lucassie Arragutainaq and Peter Kattuk. Our programs are now about much more than eiders, and supporting Inuit and Indigenous self-determination with tools and services for hunters and for communities to run their own programs with SIKU!

I have been with the Nunavik Marine Region Wildlife Board (NMRWB) for the past three years and am currently the Director of Wildlife Management. I live in Inukjuak with my partner and young daughter. I was also fortunate to work with Nunavik communities during my graduate studies, where much of my research involved learning from the knowledge and experience that Inuit Elders and hunters have of beluga whales.
