DESCRIPTION

La première réunion de la table ronde régionale de l’Est de la baie d’Hudson et de la baie James s’est tenue à Chisasibi, du 7 au 9 novembre 2016, avec pour objectif de réunir les communautés et les parties prenantes inuites et cries afin de partager les connaissances et de coordonner les priorités en matière d’intendance du milieu marin, de recherche en cours et prévue, de planification des zones protégées et de communication.

Cette table ronde de l’Est vise à mettre en parallèle les efforts régionaux existants du côté ouest de la baie d’Hudson, en mettant l’accent sur le chevauchement des régions marines du Nunavut, du Nunavik et de l’Eeyou dans l’est de la baie d’Hudson et la baie James, ainsi que dans la région de Mushkegowuk dans l’ouest de la baie James. La table ronde régionale de l’est de la baie d’Hudson et de la baie James se veut un forum permanent destiné à favoriser la communication, la collaboration et la gestion de l’environnement entre les différentes juridictions, et à discuter des priorités locales dans le cadre d’une approche régionale progressive visant à former un consortium de la baie d’Hudson. La réunion de novembre 2016 à Chisasibi visait spécifiquement à lancer la planification et la consultation régionales sur les priorités et une vision commune de la gérance environnementale par le biais d’un consortium de la baie d’Hudson, en prévision d’un sommet de la baie d’Hudson qui réunira les groupes de l’ouest et de l’est pour créer officiellement le consortium de la baie d’Hudson.
